Houston Office Adds Associates in Three Practice Groups

Chamberlain Hrdlicka’s Houston office continues to grow with the addition of Raneen Abdelghani, Brendan Gilbert, Michael Henn, Ethan McDonald, and Alec Turung, who recently joined the firm as associates in Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Creditor Rights; Intellectual Property; and Tax Planning & Business Transactions practice groups.

Abdelghani joined Chamberlain Hrdlicka as an associate in the Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Creditor Rights practice, where she focuses on restructuring, debtors' and creditors' rights, and the acquisition and sale of distressed assets. Prior to joining the firm, she served as a judicial law clerk to The Honorable Jennifer E. Niemann for the United States Bankruptcy Court of the Eastern District of California.

Abdelghani graduated, cum laude, from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and International Relations & Global Studies. She earned her law degree from the SMU Dedman School of Law, where she was the Civil/Consumer Clinic Chief, competed in the Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition, and served as a judicial intern to The Honorable E. Lee Morris of the United States Bankruptcy Court of the Northern District of Texas. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas’ Bankruptcy Law Section.

Gilbert is an associate in the firm’s Tax Planning & Business Transactions practice group, where he focuses on complex tax issues, transactional planning, company formations and corporate governance.

Gilbert earned a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in accounting from Sam Houston State University. He received his law degree from Baylor University and an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University. While in law school, he served as an extern at the United States Tax Court, completed the Estate Planning Professional Track, and was a member of the Business Law Society. He is a member of the Tax Sections of the American Bar Association and the Houston Bar Association.

Henn joined Chamberlain Hrdlicka as an associate in the Intellectual Property practice. Prior to joining the firm, he was an associate in a national Intellectual Property law firm. With background in mechanical engineering, his patent prosecution experience includes patent drafting, responding to U.S, office actions, managing patent prosecution in foreign patent offices, and appeal brief drafting. He is also experienced in patent litigation in the software and oil and gas industries, including document review, drafting infringement charts, drafting invalidity charts, and assisting the drafting of motions.

Henn earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Louisville.  He obtained a law degree from the University of Houston School Law Center, where he won the Hippard Novice Mock Trial Competition and was the executive editor of the Houston Journal of International Law. He is a member of the Houston Young Lawyers Association.

McDonald is an associate in the firm's Tax Planning & Business Transactions practice group, where he focuses on corporate and tax matters, including the formation, governance, reorganization and internal restructuring of corporations and limited liability companies to achieve tax and corporate objectives.

McDonald graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He received his law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law and an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law.

Turung is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group. With background in mechanical engineering, he has broad intellectual property experience, including U.S. and PCT patent prosecution, U.S. patent reexamination, U.S. patent litigation, patent licensing, trademark prosecution, litigation, and licensing, and copyright opinion work.

Turung graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Baylor University and earned his law degree from the Texas A&M University School of Law. He is a member of the Harris County Bar Association.
