State Bar of Texas Adds Shareholder Diana Gomez to Board

Diana Gomez, shareholder in Chamberlain Hrdlicka’s Houston office, was recently sworn in to the State Bar of Texas’s (SBOT) Board of Directors, during the organization’s Annual Meeting held in Dallas, TX. She was also appointed to the Texas Access to Justice Commission. The Texas Access to Justice Commission was created by the Supreme Court of Texas in 2001 and is charged with developing and implementing initiatives designed to expand access to, and enhance the quality of, justice in civil legal matters for low-income Texans.

Prior to her SBOT appointment, Gomez served as the 2023-2024 Houston Bar Association’s president, the first Latina and minority woman at the helm of the 154-year-old organization with more than 11,000 members. During her tenure, she focused on fostering community service, increasing attorney engagement, and reinvigorating pipeline programs. Several of the initiatives she spearheaded garnered awards during SBOT’s Annual Meeting, including the Outstanding Partnership Award for Lactation Pods and LAWPods Initiatives with Harris County Partners; two Star of Achievement Awards for the Bench Bar Conference and Bites and Beverages for the Bar; and the Best Overall Newsletter Award for the Houston Lawyer Magazine.

Gomez is a shareholder at Chamberlain Hrdlicka, where she serves on the firm’s Board of Directors, as the national co-chair for the labor and employment practice, as well as the national chair for the Pro Bono Committee. With extensive experience in civil lawsuits in state and federal courts, she focuses on complex labor and employment disputes by providing a full range of employment law services, including pre-termination counseling, investigations, EEO training, handbook review, drafting of policies, defense in administrative proceedings (EEOC charges, unemployment hearings) and arbitrations, as well as handling all aspects of trial, from pre-suit through appeal. Diana has successfully defended all types of employment law matters in state and federal court including claims involving non-competes, discrimination, retaliation, FLSA, and ERISA.
