Diana Pérez Gomez Receives the Outstanding Alumni Award

September 17, 2024

Honored by Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government & Public Service (The Bush School)

Diana Gomez, Chamberlain Hrdlicka’s shareholder and chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice, received the Outstanding Alumni Award from the Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government & Public Service (The Bush School), along with Captain Jeff Benson of the United States Navy, during the 9th annual celebration in the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center on Sept. 12, 2024. The award has been presented annually since 2016 to an undergraduate and graduate alumni who demonstrate high caliber of professional experience, public service and support of The Bush School based on excellence, integrity, leadership, loyalty, respect and selfless service.

“Service is in Diana’s DNA,” said Larry Campagna, Chamberlain Hrdlicka’s shareholder. “She has driven change from within the legal profession and created opportunities for underserved populations, increased access to justice, promoted mental health and well-being of lawyers and mentored attorneys and paralegals both at our firm and in the organizations she has helped to lead.”

“One of my most favorite things about Texas A&M are our values,” Gomez said during her acceptance speech. “The selfless service value that’s instilled in all of us is what had a profound impact on me. We work with and help others to have a positive impact and to do so without expectations of recognition or reward. A lot of my service has to do with what I was taught here at Texas A&M. I attribute so much of that to the Bush family, to my time here at Texas A&M, to my wonderful mother and father and to my wonderful husband, who has served as a district court judge for 16 years. Selfless service is something that I learned here more than 20 years ago at Texas A&M, and it’s something I will continue. We take care of each other as Aggies, but we take care of others, too.”

“Former students of The Bush School achieve amazing things in their careers, communities and the world,” John Sherman, dean of The Bush School, said during the ceremony. “It’s important to recognize those who are exceptional in their public service work. They provide a clear example of the impact to mankind that can be achieved when answering the noble calling to public service and striving for excellence.”

Gomez is a shareholder at Chamberlain Hrdlicka, where she serves on the firm’s Board of Directors, as the national chair for the labor and employment practice, as well as the national chair for the Pro Bono Committee. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Texas A&M University and received her law degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Very involved in the legal community, Gomez was recently sworn in to the State Bar of Texas’s (SBOT) Board of Directors. She served as the Houston Bar Association’s 2023/24 president, the first Latina at the helm of the 154-year-old organization. She is the past president of the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston, where she currently sits on the Board of Directors. In recognition of her professional accomplishments and community involvement, in 2024 Diana was named a DEI Champion by the Houston Business Journal and received the Breakthrough Woman Award from the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce. Past accolades include 2022 Women Who Mean Business Award by the Houston Business Journal and Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women of 2020-21 by Houston Woman Magazine. She has been named to the Texas Super Lawyers every year since 2013 and to Best Lawyers in America since 2022.
