Habeeb (Hobbs) Gnaim and David Pierson Win Deal of the Year Award
The acquisition of Exceptional Emergency Center's Texas locations by Altus Community Healthcare was named Deal of the Year in Private Equity Add-On Deal (Mid Market) category at the recent 6th Annual USA M&A Awards Gala held in New York City.
Chamberlain Hrdlicka’s Houston based team represented Altus Community Healthcare (Altus), a portfolio company of ZT Corporate in the transaction. Following the acquisition of Exceptional Emergency Center, a community-based provider of freestanding emergency centers operating 14 locations across Texas, Altus became the largest operator of freestanding emergency centers in Texas with 30 locations throughout the state. The deal was led by Habeeb “Hobbs” Gnaim, chair of the Tax Planning & Business Transactions and David Pierson, shareholder in Chamberlain Hrdlicka’s Corporate, Securities & Finance practice. Aly Dossa, practice chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property practice supported the transaction.
This award stands as a testament to the Tax Planning & Business Transactions team’s excellence throughout a banner year. In addition to the Middle Market M&A Atlas Deal of the Year Award, Gnaim was also named Lawyer of the Year at the event. And earlier this year, the team was also recognized by the Association for Corporate Growth Houston with two Deal of the Year Awards.
The USA M&A Atlas Awards honor best value-creating deals, outstanding firms, legendary leaders and dealmakers, exclusively from the small to middle-market corporate, investor and deal communities. Winners are judged by a point-indexed scoring method based on the transaction criteria, including pre-and-post execution outcomes; style/negotiation; sector complexities; regulation/jurisdictions; stakeholder/community value impact; leadership; and brand strength. Significantly, the process does not involve industry partners or vendors to insure a conflict-free process.
“We honored the successes of top performing firms, deals and dealmakers; and congratulate them on their vision and excellence for executing value-creating transactions exclusively from the vibrant small to middle market communities. We wish them lots of luck and success for the year ahead.” Shanta Kumari, CEO and Global Group Editor, at Global M&A Network.
