Katherine Noll, Joshua Sutin and Jaime Vasquez, shareholders at the San Antonio office of national law firm Chamberlain Hrdlicka have been named again to the San Antonio Magazine’s 2020 Top Attorney list in Tax Law category. All recognized lawyers were selected through an online peer-voting process with a third-party research software company. Katherine Noll focuses her practice on federal and state tax issues, with an emphasis on business transactions, tax planning, executive compensation, employee benefits, and representing clients before the IRS and state taxing authorities. She has experience in resolving tax and regulatory matters for corporations, partnerships, LLCs, individuals, tax-exempt organizations and financial institutions. She works with business owners, legal counsel, executives, management, tax departments, and accounting firms to achieve tax and corporate objectives.
Noll is the past president and treasurer of the Bexar County Women’s Bar Association and Foundation and is a member of the American Bar Association, Tax Section, the San Antonio Bar Association, and the Oklahoma Bar Association. She sits on LEAD Academy’s Steering Committee, the San Antonio Economic Development Department External Advisory Group Qualified Opportunity Zones, and is on the Board of Directors for Girls, Inc. San Antonio. She was named to San Antonio’s Best Lawyers by SA Scene since 2016. She was one of just four 2017 “Women in Law” in the July/August issue of San Antonio Woman magazine.
Joshua Sutin helps clients unravel complex legal and business issues related to employee benefit plans, tax-exempt organizations, and business tax planning. He counsels both businesses and not-for-profit organizations on the full range of tax and employee benefits issues, including qualified retirement plans, tax-exempt entities, executive compensation, transaction-related benefits counsel, welfare plan compliance, and privately held businesses, advising clients on succession and transition planning. He represents clients in retirement plan and distribution planning, including analysis of income tax, estate tax and excise tax issues.
Sutin has been listed in Best Lawyers in America list since 2006, and was named San Antonio Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law “Lawyer of the Year” in 2013, 2017 and 2020, and named to SA Scene, "San Antonio’s Best Lawyers" in multiple years.
Jaime Vasquez concentrates his practice on federal, state, and international transactional and tax controversy matters. He has counseled clients in civil tax litigation matters, serving as first and second chair in proceedings before the United States Tax Court, United States District Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is Board Certified in Tax Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Vasquez is also Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has provided defense in criminal tax matters, successfully resolving cases before the IRS Criminal Investigation Division. He sits on the Board of Directors for the San Antonio Bar Association and is the Chair-Elect of the State Bar of Texas, Hispanic Issues Section. He’s been named Outstanding Lawyer by the San Antonio Business Journal in 2014, 40 Under 40 by the San Antonio Business Journal in 2015, “Texas Rising Star” by Texas Super Lawyers since 2014, "Lawyer of the Year" for San Antonio for Litigation and Controversy - Tax by US News Best Lawyers in America in 2019 and 2021, listed among US News’ Best Lawyers in America since 2018 and listed in Legal 500 U.S. Tax: Contentious category as Next Generation Partner for 2020.
