Profile

Jessica Lafferty is an Associate in the Tax Planning and Business Transactions section. Jessica’s work for clients includes:

  • forming and organizing various business entities, including limited liability companies, corporations, and limited partnerships
  • updating corporate records for business clients, and
  • supporting restructuring efforts to meet the evolving needs of businesses, always considering the tax implication of the business structure

Working closely with her section colleagues, Jessica in also involved with mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations and other significant business transactions.

Living the firm’s culture of collaboration, Jessica, and the Tax Planning and Business Transaction team, works with the firm’s International Tax section to help clients organize and optimize their businesses structures to account for the complexities and tax implications involved with cross-border ownership structures. Further, the team coordinates with Chamberlain Hrdlicka’s Estate & Income Tax Planning section to aid in organizing family businesses for effective succession planning.

Jessica earned her Juris Doctor and Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Houston Law Center where she was the Chief Articles Editor of the Houston Business and Tax Law Journal. Jessica holds an undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University, where she studied business, communications, and psychology. 

With a solid foundation in both legal and business disciplines, Jessica is committed to delivering innovative solutions to meet clients' complex business needs.
