David Calvillo is appointed to the Houston Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates
David Calvillo, Senior Counsel in the Houston and San Antonio offices of Chamberlain Hrdlicka, has been invited into the Houston Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Calvillo was formally welcomed into the Houston Chapter during the Annual Dinner and New Member Induction on October 26, 2019.
ABOTA is a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Those appointed to ABOTA are deemed trial lawyers of high personal character and honorable reputation, are members of the Bar of the State in which they practice, and must have tried at least 10 civil jury trials to jury verdict or hung jury as lead counsel.
As an accomplished board certified civil trial lawyer, professional neutral, certified public accountant, and certified valuation analyst, Calvillo brings a variety of skill sets and focused passion to his practice. He has successfully tried, litigated, and arbitrated matters in diverse practice areas, including breach of contract, business separation, commercial liability, construction, shareholder rights, professional malpractice, personal injury and wrongful death, employment, debt collection, and intellectual property matters.
Deeply involved in the legal community, Calvillo has served the legal profession as an Exam Commissioner for the Civil Trial Specialization Committee of the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, as a member of the Council of the ADR Section, as a member of the Council of the Hispanic Issues Section of the State Bar of Texas, and as an elected member of the American Law Institute. He has previously served as the Chair of the region’s State Bar of Texas’ Grievance Committee.
Calvillo received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Texas – Pan American and a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. He is currently enrolled in the Executive LLM Tax program at Georgetown University Law Center with an anticipated graduation date in 2019.
