Habeeb 'Hobbs' Gnaim Led Two Transactions Winning ACG 7th Annual Deal of the Year Awards
The Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) announced the winners of its 7th Annual ACG Deal of the Year Awards during an award ceremony held at the Houston Country Club on April 24, 2024. Two deals led by Habeeb "Hobbs" Gnaim, chair of Chamberlain Hrdlicka’s Tax Planning & Business Transactions Group, won the following Deal of the Year Awards:
- Manufacturing Deal of the Year, for representing Pinnacle Plastics with its new portfolio investment from Main Street Capital. Other key members of the team included Umair Karowadia, Marianne Standley, Jack Najarian, Matt Stirneman, Greg Henson, Aly Dossa, Kellen Scott, Will Cowan, and Jeff Della Rocco.
- Products & Services Deal of the Year, for representing Landmark Industries in its sale of 64 fuel & convenience retail sites (operating as Timewise) to Spring Partners Retail LLC, a joint venture between ExxonMobil Corp. and Global Partners LP. Other key members of the team were David Pierson, Larry Carbo, James Berry, Julie Offerman, Elizabeth Feeney, and John Fields.
Overall, Gnaim had six different client transactions that were nominated in various categories, including Houston-Based Private Equity Deal of the Year.
Gnaim, shareholder at Chamberlain Hrdlicka, serves as the head of the Tax Planning & Business Transactions group. He focuses his practice on tax and corporate matters and has significant experience in all aspects of structuring, negotiating, and implementing business acquisitions and dispositions, corporate reorganizations, mergers, conversions, recapitalizations, deferred recognition transactions, admissions of and providing equity incentives for management and key employees, as well as choice of entity considerations, and state tax planning. Known for a high volume of transactions year to year, Gnaim has built a reputation as a go-to tax and corporate counsel for middle-market transactions. Recently, several Gnaim’s deals have garnered recognition from industry organizations, including Global M&A Network, with the 2023 Deal of the Year Award - Distressed M&A Deal, Mid-market category; as well as 2023 The M&A Advisor Awards, where two of Gnaim’s deals won Deal of the Year.
